This August, Newcastle’s ambitious youth theatre company, Tantrum Theatre, will be presenting a tapestry of the past in a brand new, original production called Dreams of a Forgotten City which will be held in Fort Scratchley.

Dreams of a Forgotten City has been created by nine of the city’s leading young artists, in collaboration with Tantrum’s artistic director Brendan O’Connell and dramaturg Rachel Jackett. The cast and crew have been working with the unique features of Fort Scratchley to create a site responsive piece that will be performed for four nights only and will immerse audiences in the atmospheric and historic site.

Following on from Tantrum’s highly acclaimed Peepshow in 2009, this imaginative theatrical exploration of one of Newcastle’s most famous landmarks presents a collage of memories and dreams. Fragments of lives and echoes of our history will be illuminated in this highly visual new work that promises to take audiences on an imaginative theatrical journey – the likes of which have never been seen in this city.
