TERM 1 WORKSHOPS

Mon, Tues & Sat 5-8 years

Students will participate in fun drama games designed to introduce and develop a foundation of dramatic skills such as vocal projection, movement, mime, and individual/group work. The games will reflect the interests of the class members as they get to know each other.  The focus will be on confidence building, cooperation and exploring creativity through improvisation within a fun and safe environment.

Wed 9-11 years

The aim for this term is to examine the elements of storytelling, to build ensemble skills and to explore what kind of stories we can tell: through looking at the senses, physical elements of storytelling, working with simple props and costumes, sound, improvisation and play.

Thurs 9-11 years

This term we will look closely at the seven elements of drama to build a solid foundation of dramatic techniques: focus, symbol, mood, contrast, tension, space and time. Each week will consist of a discussion about the element, skill development, exercises and a weekly challenge.

Wed 12-13 years

Through games, exercises, rehearsal and performance, the focus this term will be on working as a team; understanding physical basics & concepts of voice production; developing creative ears; practicing good vocal habits; and then translating the term’s work into a short in-class performance.

Thurs 12-13 years

This term the focus will be on character development. During the first half of the term, character development exercises will look at one of six different areas including: sense and muscle memory, emotion memory, action, status, stereotypes and voice. These exercises will be a mix of both individual and group work – some prepared and some improvisation. 

During the second half of the term short monologues will be distributed and work on these will occur in groups, pairs, and individually, reflecting on the 6 topic areas covered during the first half of the term.  

The final goal is to perform the monologues in the second last and/or last week of term, followed by a group reflection of the terms work.

Thurs 14-17 years
